Applications to Teach Math Concepts, Math Skills, and Problem Solving

As we select educational applications for students with disabilities, we must be cognizant and try to  match the concept to the student's developmental level.  Below I will list and describe educational applications that address math concepts, skills, and problem solving.

1) Computing Technology for Math Excellence- explains how to use virtual manipulatives.

2) Virtual Laboratories- good for students studying advanced probability and statistics.

3) Math Playground- provides a variety of resources that support learning math concepts, skills, and problem solving.  They provide free and online math games, word problems, and logic puzzles.

4) Conceptua Math (http://www.conceptuamath.com)- focuses on fractions and provides an array of tools for educators to use to improve their whole group instruction.

5) Destination Math (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Learning Technology)- helps the development of skills in math reasoning, conceptual understanding, and problem solving for students in grades K-12.
